Nokia has announced plans to enter the broadband dongle market from early on in 2009, with the firm stating that it intends to become one of the 'winning providers' of mobile broadband.

The devices, which will use a fast version of 3G called HSPA, are expected to be sold mainly through operators and be bundled with services.

Nokia's vice president for hardware platform components, Tapio Markki told Mobile Today that he expects the firm to become one of the "winning providers" of the technology. "The market for HSPA modems is expected to grow very rapidly during the coming years," he added.
