Nokia in talks with vendor over netbook

Nokia is reportedly in discussions with Tawianese vendor ECS over the possibility that it will manufacturer the mobile phone firm’s much-mooted netbook.

Detail of the negotiations emerged via Mobile Today, less than a month after Nokia’s chief executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo (pictured) admitted that the firm was "looking actively" into entering the market.

Reports suggest the two firms are looking to formalise the agreement by the end of the next quarter, with a view to launching the first netbook by the end of this year.

The news comes less than a day after the firm announced major losses due to falling demand for mobile phones.
