Intel is set to power a new version of Google Glass, which is expected as early as next year.

People ‘familiar with the matter’ told WSJ that an Intel chip will replace the processor from Texas Instruments, which was built into the first version of the wearable tech.

The sources claimed that Intel will promote Google Glass to hospital networks and manufacturers, whilst also developing new workplace uses for the device.

While the developer version of the first gen Google Glass is already available, a consumer version of the device has still not received a release date.

There has been a lot of talk about how successful the device will be once officially launched, with a number of concerns over privacy.

Some, like Gekko MD Dan Todaro, questions whether it will actually ever get a release.

Either way, retailers such as Dixons and Argos have told PCR that they are keen to stock the wearable tech once it is available to consumers.
