HOLOFLEX SMARTPHONE
Canada’s Human Media Lab at Queen’s University has developed the world’s first holographic flexible smartphone, called the Holoflex. The smartphone’s screen is flexible and able to produce 3D holographic images without the need for glasses or eye-tracking cameras.
CRUCIAL BALLISTIX SPORT LT DDR4
Crucial’s new Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 memory is designed for gamers and performance enthusiasts. Speeds start at 2400 MT/s, with the new memory being faster and more responsive than standard Crucial DDR4 memory. IT has four channel memory architecture to maximise data rates and is optimised for the latest Intel platforms.
SYNOLOGY DISKSTATION DS116 and DS916+
Synology has announced the release of two new units. The DS116 is the successor of DS115 and is equipped with ARMADA 385 88F6820 Dual Core 1.8GHz CPU and 1GB DDR3 memory. It is available now with an RRP of £127.20. The DS916+ is the successor of DS415+ and features an Intel Pentium N3710 quad-core processor with AES-NI hardware encryption engine, as well as 2GB or 8GB memory options, Btrfs / Snapshot Replication and the scalability of up to 9 drives with DX513. The DS916+ is available now, with the 2GB version costing £442.80 and the 8GB model priced at £480.
STARTECH THUNDERBOLT 3 CABLES
StarTech.com has launched Thunderbolt 3 cables. For the first time, a single cable can connect to Thunderbolt, USB, and DisplayPort devices. Thunderbolt 3 cables provide four times the data and twice the video bandwidth of any other cable, while also supplying power. The Thunderbolt 3 cables are available at Insight, Misco, Amazon.co.uk and Dabs and is also distributed by Enta, Ingram Micro and Exertis.
HUAWEI P9 LITE
Huawei has announced the P9 Lite, an exciting new addition to the popular P9 family. It weighs just 147g, is lightweight, and comes with a 5.2-inch screen and a 13MP rear camera. The P9 Lite smartphone will be available in the UK from late May and can be purchased in black from EE, O2, Vodafone and Carphone Warehouse.
AOC BORDERLESS MONITOR
AOC has added a new borderless 27-inch monitor to its Style line. The AOC Q2781PQ has an ultra slim design, asymmetric stand, and comes with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440) and a new 4-side ‘borderless’ AH-IPS panel. The AOC Q2781PQ will be available in July 2016 at an MSRP of £279.
SENNHEISER/APOGEE BUNDLE
Sennheiser and Apogee are launching a new bundle that brings together Sennheiser’s HD 650 open, dynamic hi-fi stereo headphones with the Apogee Groove – a high-performance USB DAC and headphone amp. The bundle will be distributed exclusively via Sennheiser’s online shop from the end of June.
BE QUIET! NEW BLACK CABLES
be quiet! has optimised the look of several power supplies by switching to all-black cables from now on. In addition to high-quality technology, stable power supply, and first-class workmanship, the design is a key component of each be quiet! product. Therefore, the German company has decided to equip the PSU series Dark Power Pro 11, Straight Power 10, Pure Power 9 and System Power 8 (some bulk versions excluded) with black cables. This allows for a modern look through a clean interior design of the PC. There have been no technical changes.
CONNEKT GEAR AV SNAP-IN MODULAR RANGE
Ideal for installing and concealing AV cables within walls or trunking, Connekt Gear’s new AV snap-in modular range gives users the freedom and flexibility of choosing the connection combinations they require to create their own specific set-up. The Snap-In Modules feature a socket on the front of the plate and a female socket on the reverse via a trailing cable, so no soldering is required.
NETGEAR PROSAFE 10-GIGABIT ETHERNET SMART MANAGED SWITCH
NETGEAR has added three powerful new switches to its second-generation ProSAFE 10-Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Smart Managed Switch portfolio. These products are purposely designed to provide small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and other growing organisations with cost-effective 10GBASE-T connectivity, IPv6 management, and other advanced Layer 2+/Layer 3 Lite features. Pricing ranges from £961 (8 ports) to £5,968 (48 ports).
