New research from YouGov reveals that 42 per cent of UK retailers do not enforce any sort of computer password policy.

The research, which was commissioned by ACTIS, implies that the UK retail industry is unprepared for virtual and physical terrorist attacks.

The survey found that almost 90 per cent of retailer businesses fail the basic counter-terrorism preparedness test developed by ACTIS.

Other results found in the research include 44 per cent admitting to not performing security checks on staff and 52 per cent never having checked if sensitive information, such as building plans, is in the public domain.

ACTIS is launching the first series of online training courses on the subjects in order to improve business awareness.
