MWC 2013: Sony Xperia Z confirmed for Q2 global release

Sony has confirmed that the ultra-thin Xperia Z tablet will be released globally in Q2 2013.

Featuring a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 HD display, the Xperia Z has high brightness and high definition video WUXGA technology. It also has Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine 2 to boost image content and contrasts.

"Xperia Tablet Z sets new standards in entertainment by matching premium specifications and Sony technology with cross-device connectivity and a consistent user-experience," said Sony Mobile’s Kaz Tajima.

"Xperia Tablet Z reinforces our intention to be a leading player in the premium Android device market, by building on the principles established by Xperia Z and perfectly optimising them for the tablet form factor."

Running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the tablet is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and supports Near Field Communications (NFC), enabling one-touch wireless streaming.

Coming in either black, white or red, the Xperia Z will be available from Sony stores on March 1st, then rolled out globally in the second quarter of 2013.
