AVG boss says new PC form factors open up opportunities for cyber criminals

‘More diverse’ security software needed for tablets

Consumers need more diverse protection against cyber criminals when using new devices such as tablets, a security software firm has said.

In an interview with PCR, Michael Foreman, managing director of AVG UK said: “The growing consumer popularity in devices that have access to the internet leads to an increased number of opportunities for criminals; ultimately this means more diverse protection is needed.”

While Foreman dodged the question of whether the firm would consider releasing security software for Macs, he added: “We concentrate on where the dangers come from… our R&D teams are always looking at all devices to ensure both consumers and businesses have the best protection available.
