PC game developer-publisher Blizzard Entertainment is planning to up its range of Battle.Net Balance Cards at retail, which allow players to buy digital content.

There are currently two on the market - Diablo III Auction House and StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm Digital Deluxe Edition versions.

Blizzard is now planning more - it's possible one will be for the recently announced World of Warcraft In Game Store, while a Blizzard All-Stars card is also a possibility.

In Blizzard's interview with PCR, the company said: "There's a fresh retail opportunity for consumers with our initial POSA (point of sale activation) card offering.

"Battle.net Balance Cards allow players - who either don’t have or don’t want to use a credit card - to add funds to their Battle.net Balance and purchase various Battle.net digital services and games.

"To date we have launched two designs of the card into the market – one branded with the Diablo III Auction House and the other with StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm Digital Deluxe Edition – and we plan to expand this range in the future."

Battle.net is Blizzard's own online gaming service that allows gamers to play and interact with one another, access game stats and save their game progress to the cloud.

The retail cards can be used to pay for new games and in-game content such as items on the Diablo III Auction House or World of Warcraft digital upgrades.
