In a 'product distribution first' for Midwich, the firm will be taking JVC's action camera Adixxion to market.

Midwich says it's the first time a traditional camcorder manufacturer has developed a product in the action camera sector.

The GC-XA1 weighs a mere 126g and has a 'quad-proof' design that is waterproof to 5m, shock-proof to withstand a fall of up to 2m, as well as dust and freeze-proof. The device also has a scratch-resistant design and has a 1.5-inch LCD monitor to see results while out and about.

The camera has wi-fi capability too, allowing connection to a smartphone for checking frames before recording while the camera is mounted in an inacessible spot. Images can be sent to a PC via wi-fi or mobile hotspot, while hi-def videos can be streamed in real-time to USTREAM without a PC.

“JVC is very pleased to have Midwich on board as one of our authorised Action Cam distributors,” says Neil Stewart, JVC category sales manager, Imaging.

“JVC knows that Midwich has the right infrastructure and knowledge to help launch this new and exciting product into the marketplace. The GC-XA1 has now landed in our central warehouse in Europe and the first stocks should be available in the UK very soon. JVC is looking forward to working in very close partnership with Midwich as they both enter into the Action Camera product channel.”

Video recording is possible in resolutions ranging from Full HD to WVGA, with full image stabilisation, ultra-wide lens, time-lapse REC to record a frame at a time at intervals of one or five seconds, digital 5x zoom, five megapixel stills, white balance (auto/manual), exposure (auto), and self-timer functions.
