Microsoft has revealed that its latest operating system, Windows 8, will be released on October 26th.

The announcement was made yesterday by Steven Sinofsky, president of the Windows division at Microsoft.

Last week Tami Reller told attendees of the Microsoft World Partner Conference that enterprise customers with Software Assurance contracts would have full access to Windows 8 as early as August.

Those who buy a Windows PC or laptop before October will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Professional for $14.99 once released.

Windows 8 will be available in 109 different languages across 231 markets worldwide.

Microsoft also announced the release of the new Office 2013 software earlier this week.
