Microsoft will hire 1,000 additional employees in China over the next year.
The new faces will represent a big push for the software giant, as it looks to expand its headcount in china by more than 20 per cent to prepare for Windows 8.
Microsoft has already begun its promotion of Windows 8 to China and the company is planning to increase China research and development spending by 15 per cent from $500m over the next year.
The new employees will be in addition to the 4,500-strong workforce that Microsoft currently has in China.
The company is also planning to construct a large cloud computing centre in Shanghai that will employ about 600 people.
