Microsoft is bringing a series of apps, including Outlook and Office, to iOS and Android today.

The tech firm acquired email app Acompli in December, which will now be turned into Outlook for mobile.

The app will be available for free from the App Store and Google Play.

Julia White, general manager of Office for Microsoft, said: “We have been and we’ll continue to update the app weekly.

“So in a very short period of time you’ll start to see variance from the Acompli app that will not be updated after that point."

Word, Excel and PowerPoint will also be available on Android tablet devices.

Office Ribbon is included, to navigate commands, allowing users to open documents from different devices via a roaming ‘most recently used’ file list.

Office can only currently work on Android devices with a seven-inch screen size or larger, plus 1GB of RAM or above.

This news comes after Microsoft revealed its Q2 2015 financial results for the three months ending December 31st 2014.
