Enterprise head Satya Nadella rumoured to replace Steve Ballmer

Microsoft CEO successor could be revealed in the next few days

The successor of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer could be announced in the next few days.

Recode has reported that “numerous sources close to Microsoft” claim the search to replace current head Steve Ballmer, who announced his retirement in August last year, may end “within the next week”.

Additional reports position Microsoft’s executive VP of cloud and enterprise Satya Nadella as the forerunner for the role.

“We aren’t doing anything but waiting,” a high-ranking exec at the firm was said to comment.

“No one knows what the new CEO will want, so no one knows what to do.”

Another source added: “It’s stasis, all depending on who gets the nod.”

The CEO of automobile company Ford, Alan Mulally, was previously said to be the priority choice of CEO for Microsoft investors.

Ballmer had previously confirmed that he would leave his position “within a year”.
