This week is National Apprentice Week, and Microsoft is celebrating its five-year anniversary of its Partner Apprenticeship scheme.

The scheme has seen over 7,000 young people placed in about 5,000 different companies since its development.

Microsoft has also released the findings form a recent research project, outlining the impact of Microsoft apprenticeships on businesses and young people.

The research found that 72 per cent of businesses believe Microsoft apprentices help to close the IT industry skills gap, while 89 per cent of apprentices say the program helped to improve their career prospects.

Similarly, businesses saw the benefits of these apprenticeships, with 74 per cent stating that taking on a Microsoft apprentice enabled them to grow their team without too much financial burden.

This Wednesday also marks STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) day for National Apprenticeship Week.

The news comes after Microsoft announced it will give new cloud reseller partners the chance to win a marketing kit worth £350.
