Microsoft’s Windows 8 powered tablets have beaten rival devices from the likes of Apple and Android to take the crown as the tablet of choice for work.
A study from Forrester polled 9,766 "information workers" and found that when given the choice, they would rather have a Windows 8 device than an iPad.
32 per cent of participants declared their desire for a Windows 8 machine, whilst just 26 per cent said they would prefer an iPad.
Meanwhile, Android flagged way behind at the back of the pack as just 12 per cent of those polled requested a device running Google’s operating system.
The news should provide a handy boost to Microsoft, which recently revealed it shipped 900,000 Surfaces into the channel as of Q42012 and released its Pro edition of the device this month, which packs the full version of Windows 8 – a significant improvement over the RT version of the OS that ships with the standard Surface.
Forrester’s report also concluded that Apple is on pace to win the next-gen smartphone war, with the firm’s OSX platform powering 58 per cent of all tablets. And whilst Android beat out Apple in current smartphone use, 33 per cent of users selected the iPhone as their most desired device.
