A further coding setback has delayed shipping until early next year

Mac users made to wait for office 2008

Office 2008 edition will now appear in 2008 as opposed to the planned release of late 2007. The delay, blamed on poor-quality coding, means that the 2008 edition will be released during the first quarter of next year.

Release and manufacturing should now take place in December. Office for the Mac was last updated in 2004. Sneak peeks will be available from September. The 2008 edition is predicted to feature an email program, that will be much more compatible with windows machines.

"We couldn’t release our product in time for the Christmas season with the kind of quality we wanted," Mac businessman Craig Eisler said. "We’re in ‘all hands on deck’ mode right now to ensure Office 2008 gets finished on time."

Microsoft has confirmed that the upcoming Works SE 9 will include display adverts, capable of working online and offline. Later this year, the suite will enter a year-long trial with selected OEMs in different countries , reported tech site The Register
