Firms? margins boosted by laptop sales

Lenovo reports 65% global sales growth

Hong Kong based vendor Lenovo has reported 65 per cent growth for gross and net income in the last quarter, strongly boosted by laptop sales.

Net income was valued at $110 million for the quarter, which ended on June 30th. Year-on-year sales increased by ten per cent, with gross income reaching $4.2 billion for the quarter.

Although the weaker US market saw slower growth with sales figures around the same as 2007, the company reported a 22 per cent increase in sales for China and 11 per cent growth for the rest of pacific Asia. The EMEA region saw growth of 26 per cent compared to last year.
