The Kurio Tab Series with Motion will be available in three sizes

Kids’ tablet with motion sensors due July

A range of children’s tablet devices that feature motion control will launch in the UK in three months’ time.

The Kurio Tab Series with Motion is due to launch in July, available in three sizes: Kurio Tab (7-inch), Kurio Tab Pro (8-inch) and Kurio Tab XL (10-inch).

The cameras in the Kurio sense the user’s body and track movements, letting them take control of games either independently or cooperatively. Vendor KD UK says this results in the development of various skills including hand to eye coordination, memory, language and maths.

Ten exclusive Kurio Motion apps come pre-loaded on the Kurio Tab Series, including a Learn & Fun Pack to help teach kids letters, numbers, colours, shapes and animals, while the Sports Pack has activities such as swimming, goal kicking and skiing. There is also spacecraft racing.

Tracey Device, Marketing and Licensing Director, KD UK commented “We are aware that with tablets there sometimes comes a certain level of stigma, whether it be from a physical or psychological perspective. As such Kurio is working hard to overcome any inhibitions which parents or educational institutions may have with the development of new and exciting technologies which target these areas.

"Kurio Motion is looking set to be a great success upon its launch as not only does it help to develop the mind but also the body, with a really engaging concept behind it.”
