The shake up at Dixons Carphone has taken another turn as Katie Bickerstaffe, UK and Ireland CEO, announces her departure.

Bickerstaffe has confirmed that she will be leaving the company in order to take up the Chief Executive Designate position at energy supplier SSE and Innogy SE. It is the latest change at the retailer in an ongoing shakeup at the top of the company.

Katie Bickerstaffe said: “I am incredibly proud of the Group’s achievements over the last few years, laying the foundations for a great future. On a personal level it’s been a pleasure to work alongside so many talented and committed colleagues and I offer my heartfelt thanks to both them and the Board for their support over these years. After ten wonderful years in the business, I feel it is the right time to move onto my next challenge.”

Alex Baldock, Group Chief Executive, added: “On behalf of the Board and all our colleagues, I would like to thank Katie for all she has done over the past 10 years for the UK and Ireland business. Katie’s dedication, passion and hard work has helped transform and strengthen the business into a market leader during a period of significant change. I look forward to working closely with Katie in the coming months and wish her every success when she moves to her exciting new role.”

The news comes hot on the heels of the appointment of Jonny Mason as group finance director. Dixons Carphone has snapped up Mason from Halfords’ where he was operating as Chief Financial Officer.

That appointment followed the news that long-standing group CEO Seb James would be making way for Alex Baldock who has recently taken over at the company. In January Humphrey Singer announced that he was standing down as finance director. A month earlier, the company announced that it was appointing a new chairman of its Carphone Warehouse arm, as it looks to shake up its mobile division. Stepping down in his role as deputy CEO and board director of the company, Andrew Harrison assumed the role of chairman of The Carphone Warehouse Limited with immediate effect.
