Department store John Lewis saw its total sales increase 4.3 per cent last week due to new technology product launches.
Online revenues increased 39 per cent and electricals jumped 10.5 per cent in the week to November 2nd. These figures were largely driven by interest in the retailer’s Windows 8 ranges.
John Lewis electricals and home technology buying director Ed Connolly said: “With further technology launches in electricals and home technology to come, the prospect of colder weather on the horizon and our shops, online presentation and assortments in such good shape, we have every opportunity to break records as we head towards peak.”
John Lewis stocks a number of products featuring Microsoft’s latest operating system, including Acer’s new Aspire range of ultrabooks and laptops, which were recently on display at the manufacturer’s Windows 8 event at London’s Science Museum, where they were hooked up to sound and media artist Roberto Pugliese’s interactive fabric ‘PuShy’.
