Tony Fadell, the man attributed with the invention of the iPod, is to step down from his position at Apple after seven years to spend more time with his family.

He is to be replaced by Mark Papermaster, formerly IBM’s vice president of blade server development. However, the move isn’t without its problems as IBM is trying to block the move, citing Papermaster’s contractual obligation that he cannot work for a business rival due to his “significant and highly confidential IBM trade secrets,” reports CRN.

Departing with Fadell is his wife, Apple’s senior vice president for Human Resources Danielle Lambert.
