Survey also finds Amazon?s Kindle app is more popular for e-reading than Apple?s iBooks

iPad is main computer for 30% of users

Nearly 30 per cent of iPad users say the device has become their primary computer, a survey has found.

The poll by Silicon Alley Insider also revealed that two thirds of iPad owners use the device for between one and five hours a day.

Web browsing remains the most popular activity for the device, followed by email and social networking.

74.5 per cent of iPad owners are reading e-books on the device, but Amazon’s Kindle app is more popular than Apple’s own iBooks, the survey found.

39.4 per cent of iPad users have downloaded 20 to 50 apps, while 16.7 per cent have downloaded more than 50. Most people use fewer than 10 apps on a regular basis, however.
