Advises all owners to update before their drive bricks

Intel releases 320 Series SSD firmware fix

Intel has posted an updated firmware for the new Intel 320 series of SSD drives which addresses the ‘Bad Context 13x Error’ that has plagued some drives.

Even if owners of 320-series devices have not experienced the issue, Intel is recommending that owners of the drives update the firmware. Owners of failed drives will need to return the drives to Intel for a replacement.

The problem can occur following an unexpected power loss on Intel SSD 320 Series drives. Affected drives will then exhibit a drive capacity of 8MB and an electronic serial number field containing a message of BAD_CTX 0000013x.

One the error occurs, no data on the SSD can be accessed. So it’s a pretty good idea to update the firmware so it never happens.
