Intel's Core i5-655K and the Core i7-875K processors tipped to receive a warm welcome in the trade

The freshly launched the Core i5-655K and the Core i7-875K feature unlocked memory, core clock and power settings normally reserved for Intel’s enthusiast Extreme series processors.

The Hyper-Threading capable Core i7-875K is a quad-core CPU with 8MB of cache, dual-channel DDR3-1333 memory controller and 16 lanes of integrated PCIe. Clocked at a base frequency of 2.93 GHz, the Core i7-875K can run 3.6 GHz via its turbo mode.

The Core i5-655K also sports a built in Intel HD Graphics controller, but has only 4MB of cache. Armed with the same two channel memory controller and PCIe implementation as the Core i7-875K, the Core i5-655K clocks in at 3.2 GHz and up to 3.46 GHz via its turbo mode.

Online retailer Scan listed both items in stock with the Core i7-875K selling for £283.37 inc VAT and the Core i5-655K for £180.54 inc VAT.

Enthusiast web sites have already praised the value and overclocking performance from the new Intel entries.
