Chip giant Intel has commenced shipping of the revised 'B3 stepping' Sandy Bridge support chipset according to a DigiTimes report.

Citing sources within the Taiwanese notebook maker industry, the report said that so-called 'first-tier' notebook and mainboards manufacturers are set to launch Sandy Bridge models at the end of the month.

Intel had earlier enacted a plan to allow manufacturers to recommence shipping of products based on the faulty chip if they could show that the design would not expose the defect in the SATA handling feature of the chip.

Citing Toshiba's Taiwanese distributor, the report claimed that the Japanese notebook giant plans to unveil a range of Sandy Bridge devices in the Taiwanese capital on the 23rd of February.

The main Taiwanese notebook manufacturers are expected to begin shipping Sandy Bridge notebooks in the middle of March, DigiTimes sources claimed.
