Intel has lodged an appeal with the European Commission after the regulators found it guilty in an antitrust ruling in May.

The chip giant was fined over €1 billion for allegedly using ‘illegal rebates and practices’ to cut its rival, AMD out of the market. It was also ordered to stop issuing rebates on conditions of exclusivity and to cease paying manufacturers to delay the launch of AMD-based computers.

However, according to MacWorld, Intel claims that not all of the evidence was adequately considered, with spokesman Robert Manetta commenting: “We believe the European Commission misinterpreted some evidence and ignored other pieces of evidence.”
