Chip manufacturer and PC World owner investigated about market leadership violations

Intel and DSG in antitrust raids

It has emerged that that The European Commission has conducted antitrust raids on the offices of leading global chip maker Intel and Dixons and PC World owners DSG, Reuters reports.

Commission spokesperson Jonathan Todd said of the move: “We believe the companies may have violated EC Treaty rules on restrictive business practices and/or abuse of a dominant market position.

"Commission officials carried out unannounced inspections at the premises of a manufacturer of central processing units and a number of personal computer retailers.”

Intel is already lined up to attend a hearing in Brussels next month to face charges that it abused its dominant position in the CPU market.
