French arm of the world's biggest IT distie takes on Michel Cohen to head up new unit

Ingram Micro launches Value Division in France

Ingram Micro’s French operation has launched a Value Division, to be headed up by new starter Michel Cohen.

The independent division will apparently focus the ‘value space and address the emerging market of advanced technologies.’

Michel Cohen will report to Christian Bittebierre, managing director of France and vice president of Europe. He previously led Azlan’s operations in France from 1994 to 2005, and most recently was in charge of Fleet Services Group, which specializes in the renewal of maintenance contracts and marketing activities within the IT industry.

Alain Maquet, president of Ingram Micro EMEA said: "The creation of a separate value division independent from our broadline volume business in France demonstrates yet again our clear focus in this area. With Michel’s arrival, we are strengthening the French team and taking a key step to accelerate our penetration in the area of networking, data centres, and cloud computing.

"This adds to our aggressive European-wide strategy which saw us acquire three value businesses in the last ten months, including Computacentre Distribution in the UK, Albora Soluciones in Spain and Portugal, and interAct BVBA in Belgium and Luxembourg. Customers are responding very positively as we further differentiate Ingram Micro and help them to advance into new markets."
