Firm says it's a strong platform for Microsoft Office 365 users

Ingram Micro announces deal to distribute BlackBerry PlayBook to resellers

Ingram Micro UK has announced an agreement with Research In Motion to distribute the BlackBerry PlayBook to reseller partners in the UK.

Whilst RIM has been struggling to find its place in what’s become an Apple and Android-shaped mobility market, BlackBerry as a brand is still popular in the business sector, and the PlayBook does offer some key business features, such as the recently announced BlackBerry Business Cloud Services for Microsoft Office 365.

“Our agreement with Ingram Micro will allow us to broaden and enhance our distribution of the BlackBerry PlayBook. We are leveraging our strengths in communications, social integration and productivity with their strengths in unified communications, software solutions and overall channel reach,” said Stephen Bates, managing director, UK, Research In Motion.

Ingram Micro is also an official distributor for BlackBerry smartphones, accessories, software and technical support, and has a dedicated team focused on mobility solutions and unified communications, as well as cloud business development managers.

“Ingram Micro is once again providing a solid, expansive offering to meet the needs of resellers,” commented Matt Sanderson, managing director at Ingram Micro. “Our continued growth in the telecommunications segment and the ongoing convergence of software and mobile technologies, enhanced with the inclusion of Microsoft Office capabilities on BlackBerry smartphones and the addition of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to our product portfolio, is driving BlackBerry as a strong platform for mobile users of Microsoft Office 365.”

Ingram Micro has also announced an exclusive distribution partnership with GPXS, an authorised supplier of BlackBerry training courses. It will be the sole distributor for the full range of training courses, which target users and support personnel, through to administrators and application developers, as well as solutions designed for administrators of mobility infrastructure systems.
