Claims that Apple is to ditch 17-inch iMac model

iMac ready for June update

ThinkSecret is claiming that Apple is preparing to ditch the 17-inch variety of its slimline iMac desktop computer next month, and will instead shift focus to the 20-inch and 24-inch models.

The site claims that the falling price gap between 17-inch and 20-inch LCD displays, as well as falling consumer demand, is behind the decision.

It is also predicted that the new range will follow the lead set by recent changes seen in the MacBook line, where small price drops were accompanied by processor, memory and hard drive upgrades.

Some sources are also claiming that Apple may decide to kit the 20-inch model with lower-spec components whilst repositioning the 24-inch model as a higher spec machine.
