An IDC analyst has stated that the performance of Windows 8 could be disappointing, as the OS has limited appeal to anyone not using touch technology.
In an interview with Computer World, IDC analyst Al Gillen expressed scepticism about the operating system’s chances in the business space.
“Windows 8 will be largely irrelevant to the users of traditional PCs, and we expect effectively no upgrade activity from Windows 7 to Windows 8 in that form factor,” noted Gillen.
“If you have Windows 7 today on a non-touch-enabled PC, I would say there’s not an overwhelmingly compelling reason to upgrade to Windows 8. I think lot of business users will see it that way.”
