HP unveils ‘world’s smallest’ business desktop

HP has revamped its Elite product family, with the addition of the HP EliteDesk 705 (pictured below) and 800 G2 Desktop Mini (pictured right), the "world’s smallest" business-class desktop.

These mini PCs come with 6th Generation Intel Core processors or 6th Generation AMD APUs, as well as DDR4 memory and an Intel-based 65W CPU option for applications requiring greater processing power.

The desktop minis will have also been designed to fit anywhere, and feature an optional PC mounting bracket, which allows users to attach the desktop to new EliteDisplays from HP.

In addition, HP has developed a Mini LockBox, a secure enclosure to help protect the mini.

Other new devices include the HP EliteBook 705 G3 series, which boasts a new thin and light design.

Available in 12.5, 14 and 15.5-inch display sizes, the notebooks feature AMD PRO A12 APU – the first commercial APU with integrated R7 Radeon graphics, a silver magnesium and aluminum chassis and a starting weight of 1.26kg.

The device also comes with HP Long-Life Rechargeable Batteries, which offer up to a three-year lifespan or 1,000 full charge and discharge cycles, an HP Premium Keyboard, a full size Display Port, VGA and RJ-45 ports.

Alex Cho, VP and general manager for commercial PCs, printing and personal systems group at HP, said: “Customers told us that they love our highest-end Elite notebooks and asked us to bring innovation from the C-suite to their broader employees across both notebook and desktop products.

“We responded by delivering thin, light and sleek designs, improved collaboration and integrated, modern security to mainstream business devices with the Elite 705 and 800 Series PCs, so every employee can experience cool, more productive and secure devices.”

Lastly, the vendor has unveiled the HP EliteOne 800 G2 AIO, which features the firm’s first integrated wireless charging built into the stand.

Plus, it comes with a fingerprint reader and has been designed to be thinner than the previous generation from HP.

Most of the devices from HP are set for release during October and November, with prices starting at €399 – PCR has reached out to HP for UK pricing.
