Prices slashed, demand grows

HP says more TouchPads coming but no idea how many

HP has said that the tech giant would manufacture another batch of WebOS powered TouchPad tablets.

"Despite announcing an end to manufacturing WebOS hardware, we have decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand," announced HP PR man Mark Budgell on the HP Next Bench Blog.

The world’s largest PC maker slashed the price of the TouchPad to £89 or $100 in markets worldwide following a shock withdrawal from WebOS hardware. The result was stampede of consumers keen to snap up a tablet for a fraction of the original asking price.

"I think it’s safe to say we were pleasantly surprised by the response," said Budgell who bafflingly added that the firm had no idea when and how many HP TouchPads might arrive.

The firm posted a FAQ which could be broadly summarised as saying: We don’t know anything, some more should arrive at some point, no you can’t have a refund and yes this time they’ll be a limit so they wont all end up on ebay at twice the price.
