Vendor sees opportunity to increase market share by targeting resellers within the SMB segment

HP rewards partners for new business

After a storming third quarter, in which profits grew by 14 per cent, Hewlett-Packard is looking to expand its Partners for Growth initiative in the UK.

To avoid merely shifting market share across its current partners, the company has already revised its US PartnerOne programme and will increase the amount of money available to those partners that bring in new trade from the small business sector. This is where the firm sees its biggest opportunities for growth.

The UK equivalent rewards HP partners for bringing in new customers, which currently applies to workstation and thin client opportunities. The firm will be looking into expanding the programme in the autumn.

"Essentially a partner can register a new business opportunity with HP," PC channel sales manager, Nick Shuttleworth explained to PC Retail. "Assuming it qualifies, we will reward the partner with an additional rebate for shipments over a 90- day period.

"Furthermore, we are considering rolling out this program to a wider portfolio of product sets in the autumn."
