HP has unveiled an education-focused mini netbook designed to provide schools with affordable technology.
The HP Mini 100e Education Edition contains features to improve its durability, including a spill-resistant keyboard, strong metal alloy hinges with steel pin axles and an integrated carrying handle.
The netbook also boasts a 10.1-inch diagonal LED-backlit display, a 92 per cent of full size keyboard, an easy-to-see LED that indicates when the PC is connected to a network, and a lightweight design (from 3.19lbs).
As well as being wi-fi enabled, the Mini 100e has an integrated worldwide modem that is compatible in all countries with the V.92 standard, enabling a dial-up internet connection when broadband is unavailable.
The device also features a customisable back panel, keyboard deck and bottom case – allowing customers to personalise them with a school logo, motto or a picture.
Finally, the Mini 100e contains the low-power Intel Atom N455 processor, Intel NM10 Express chipset, and 1GB of DDR3 memory.
The device will be available globally next month. Pricing varies on a ‘per deal’ basis, but HP doesn’t expect the units to cost more than $300 each.
