HP has denied rumours that the IT giant is shutting down the firm's WebOS

The Guardian last week claimed that HP was set to close the WebOS division with the loss of 500 jobs based on sources within the HP division. One reportedly said: "There's a 95% chance we all get laid off between now and November."

However HP personal systems group boss Todd Bradley told Bloomberg in a TV interview that the firm was "continuing to invest in webOS software", pointing out that the firm just released an update for webOS last week.

Bradley said webOS "accolades were widely known" but admitted that there were "business issues that we're working through".

Appearing on Bloomberg Television's Bloomberg West, Bradley was directly challenged about the Guardian report by Emily Chang. Bradley called the report and "unfounded rumour", and said that HP's focus was on "how we effectively use that phenomenal software".
