As the first day of Retail Vision 2008 draws to close, we highlight some of the key stands making an impact in Rome.
After signing with Gem three years ago, Exspect is increasing its focus on gaming accessories with Nintendo Wii video game accessories – including a £19.99 pack containing various Wiimote add ons such as a gun, golf club and tennis racket. Alongside this, new iPod and MP3 player headphones were on show.
Lite On gave attendees a look at some of a number of new products due to launch across Europe in two to three weeks. The DX4015 external Blu-ray ROM was a particular highlight, and also on show was its range of digital photo frames which it has achieved success with this year.
Plan On was showing off its blue tooth Portable Printer aimed at business professionals who need to print quickly. Alongside the item is a range of consumerables print roll for add on sales. A full page high resolution portable scanner was also on show, which has gained success in North America with Ingram Micro.
Serif used the event to launch the retail box versions of its photo manipulation and publishing software. Web Plus X2, Photo Plus X2, Draw Plus X2 and Page Plus Publisher are all now available in seperare versions, rather than a whole suite.
After winning product of the show at the Retail Vision event in Paris last year, OXX Digital presented its Classic 600 digital music device, which uses a wireless network to lock on to a staggering amount of radio stations across the world, and stream digital music from a PC. The firm also showcased its retro vantage range.
Europe will be stocking Sweex’s new 19 inch LCD TV/DVD player next month, however the product will arrive in the UK at a later date. Sweex also highlighted its soon to launch gaming accessories range, which is a new avenue for the firm.
Finally Western Digital displayed the My Passport Studio (due to launch May 21st), which is a portable hard drive designed from the ground up to work with an Apple Mac.
