The Half-Life 3 trademark reportedly filed last week has now disappeared.
The trademark application, filed with the European Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market, appeared late last week, but raised some sceptical eyebrows due to an absence of a similar filing with the US Patents and Trademarks Office.
Now the filing has vanished, suggesting that the news had been a hoax.
Many gamers had hoped to see some news about the long-anticipated sequel as part of Valve’s three-tiered announcement campaign, which instead turned out to be the reveal of SteamOS, Steam Machines and the Steam Controller.
For now, at least, they will have to keep on waiting.
