Survey suggests economic recovery could be headed for the high street

Half of IT retailers saw ‘more profitable’ Christmas last year

Over half of IT retailers found Christmas more profitable in 2009 than the year before, according to a survey commissioned by PCR.

Despite the fact that 31 per cent said Christmas had been no better than the same period of 2008, 55 per cent of retailers surveyed said they’d seen greater profits this festive season, suggesting a recovery for the high street may be on its way.

Budget hardware showed some of the best sales figures in December, while more premium products such as Apple’s iMac also proved to be surprise hits. Here’s hoping for a bright 2010 for the IT industry.
