Shares in Rightmove tumble as search giant's plans emerge

Google to launch property service

Google is set to add a property listing option to Google Maps in the UK.

According to BBC News, the search giant has not officially confirmed the plans, which were outlined at the Estate Agency Events conference last week.

The new service will allow private sellers, as well as estate agents, to list their properties for sale on Google Maps. It is expected to be similar to a service Google has already launched in Australia (pictured), which allows users to search by area and specify a minimum and maximum size of property. Their options are then listed and displayed on a map.

Shares in the property website Rightmove reportedly dropped more than 10 per cent as the news broke.
