Google is set to launch a cheaper competitor to Amazon Prime, reports TechCrunch.
Called ‘Google Shopping Express’, the new service will offer same-day delivery from bricks-and-mortar stores such as Target, Walmart and Walgreens.
Set to take on the likes of eBay Now and, according to one source, around $10 cheaper than Amazon Prime, the service is being run by Tom Fallows, an e-commerce product manager at Google.
It is not yet clear when Google Shopping Express is set to launch, but the firm has reportedly already begun testing.
Google has recently acquired a Canadian locker storage service called ButterBox, which is similar to Amazon Lockers. It also spent $125 million to acquire Channel Intelligence, a data management service that tracks online retail sales.
