Google has announced that it will stop producing Google Glass in its present form.
The company said that it is still committed to launching the product, but will develop a more affordable and attractive version.
Instead, Google will focus on “future versions of glass” with work carried out by a different division then before.
Customers could get their hands on the eyewear when the company launched the Explorer Edition last year.
The Explorer Edition cost customers in the UK £1,000, but this will now close.
The consumer version of the device was set to launch some time this year, and features a thumb-sized screen above the wearer’s eye.
There were also security concerns surrounding Google Glass, after researchers revealed that the eyewear could steal PIN codes.
