In deference to Steve Jobs' passing

Google and Samsung delays Nexus and Android Ice Cream Sandwich

Samsung and Google have delayed the introduction of the next-generation Android operating system and Google-branded phone dubbed the Nexus Prime.

The companies didn’t initially say why although proximity to the death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was suspected. The companies later confirmed the fact.

"We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Jobs’s passing," a Samsung representative said in a statement.

The press event was expected to occur on Tuesday at the Unpacked event at the CTIA Fall show. Leaked specifications for the Nexus Prime (or Galaxy Nexus as others have claimed) appeared last week suggesting that the phone would have a large 4.65-inch 720p display.

"New date and venue will be shortly announced," Samsung and Google announced.
