Vendor takes wraps of environmentally-friendly device at show

Fujitsu unveils wooden laptop

Fujitsu has signalled its green intentions by unveiling a prototype of a wooden laptop at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile show in Milan.

Built using a combination of natural materials, such as forest-thinned cedar and bio-based plastics, the laptop is currently only available in Japan and the firm has been coy on whether it plans to release it worldwide anytime soon.

"Amid growing concern over environmental problems, bio-based plastics have attracted considerable attention as an environmentally friendly material which lowers the burden on the environment by using less petrochemical-based materials to reduce carbon dioxide emissions," Fujitsu said in a statement.
