The volume of discounts available today (Cyber Monday) is 4% higher than it was on Black Friday, according to a report from LovetheSales.com.

Historically, this has never happened. In 2016 and 2017 we saw a slight decrease in the availability of discounts on Cyber Monday, compared to Black Friday.

Despite footfall in store reported to have dropped by more than 5% year-on-year, retailers saw a big increase in online activity.

To close the gap left by lower footfall, retailers have responded by increasing the availability of discounts today.

"In response to poor footfall in stores over the weekend, retailers have more discounts available today than on Black Friday itself. We've never seen this happen before, so it demonstrates that retailers are pretty shaken up,” said Stuart McClure, Founder of LovetheSales.com.

This news is particularly impressive when you consider that on Black Friday, 72% more retailers in the UK took part in this year’s sales event compared to last year.

On Black Friday, retailers added over 130,000 products, meaning 51% of all retail products in the UK were discounted.
