Sega title still fending off competition from Battlefield 4

Football Manager 2014 breaks record with 17 weeks at top of PC sales chart

Football Manager 2014 has broken the record for the most consecutive weeks at number one in the UK’s boxed PC game chart.

The Sega management title – developed by Sports Interactive – has now racked up 17 weeks at number one, and broke the record at 16. If the game can reach 22 number ones overall (not necessarily consecutively), it will beat the record for the most number ones for any PC game in the UK, reports MCV.

Sports Interactive boss Miles Jacobson said: "The job that Sega and retail have done working together meant Football Manager has had much better coverage than a lot of other PC titles. Being able to get the support we have had from GAME was great and also the supermarkets, we had FSDUs in more stores than we ever have before. And that was very important in reaching the achievements we managed so far.”

However, Football Manager 14’s sales are slightly down over last year, due to illegal downloads.

Elsewhere in the top ten PC boxed game chart this week, Rambo: The Video Game from Reef Entertainment makes it debut at number five.

Here’s the full boxed PC game chart for the week ending February 22nd 2014:
