The might of video sharing giant YouTube may seem unassailable, but Yahoo-owned photo portal Flickr is going to try after announcing its own video sharing service, Pocket-lint reports.

It won’t, however, be as flexible as YouTube, with clips being limited to 90 seconds in length and 150MB in size.

The Flickr team says this important difference will be a massive differentiator between the two services, with a spokesperson saying that YouTube has become more of a hotbed for commercial content: "People aren't using YouTube to share their personal short-form video clips.”

As with pictures, users will be able to add comments and captions to the videos, as well as controlling all the usual privacy settings.

Flickr will support videos in AVI, MPEG, and MOV formats.
