A new report from Telecoms analyst Analysys claims that over half of European phone calls will be from mobiles in 2008, reports tech site The Register.
There’s a fair bit of variation, with three quarters of Finnish calls being mobile, while only a quarter of Germans perfer that medium. In all cases, however, mobile use is on the rise.
"The authors don’t believe that users are making more calls, simply that they are moving away from using their fixed-lines and towards relying on their handsets," reports The Register. "True convergence should make the difference academic in the near future, but companies solely involved in fixed-telephony provision might like to see the writing on the wall."
