The first notebooks powered by AMD’s new 6th gen A-series processor (previously codenamed Carrizo) have been listed by AMD, with release dates shared with PCR.
AMD unveiled the new APU last month and the first batch of devices powered by it are starting to enter the market now.
HP will launch the HP Pavilion 15 and 17 (starting from £329) in the UK from July 29th, while the 15.6-inch HP Envy 15 notebook is also expected to be available in the UK from July 29th, with a starting price of £499.
Toshiba will have four notebooks powered by Carrizo launching in Q3. These are the C55D-C which will be available from £349, the L50D-C from £349, P50D-C from £449 and the C70D-C from £349.
Lenovo will launch the Yoga 500 powered by Carrizo, and Acer will have the E5 532, 573, 574 and 522 notebooks (pictured) also running on AMD’s new APU. Prices and release dates for these have not yet been revealed.
Asus and Dell will also introduce Carrizo products later this year as well. It looks like these will be the Asus X555D, Asus X555YI, and Dell Inspiron 15-5555 and 17-5755 models respectively, if this article on Tom’s Hardware is to be believed.
AMD’s UK country manager for consumer James Pank told PCR: "We’ve actually seen very positive feedback [to this new processor], we started off with very strong press reviews for the APU itself and now we’re actually seeing the product is arriving this month in finished consumer systems.
"Last month we had some very initial stock arrive which has actually sold out already, but the bulk of the range of finished consumer systems from vendors is landing now.
"We’re really excited as this is a big step forwards for us – we think the technology we’re introducing is absolutely what consumers are looking for and it suits a lot of things that people are doing on a day to day basis.
"Having a long all-day battery life and being able to stream videos and watch TV anywhere on a mobile device is a fantastic step forward."
