Hot on the heels of Google+ Huddle

Facebook to launch Skype video chat?

Facebook is set to launch an in-browser video conferencing feature based on Skype according to a TechCrunch report.

Citing an anonymous "source with knowledge of the partnership", the TechCrunch claim follows Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg telling the press that the social networking giant would launch something "awesome" this week, the week after Google made their social networking debut with Google+.

The TechCrunch report claims that the Facebook service would require a ‘desktop component’, presumably something that needs to be installed, although the site speculated that it may simply interface with an existing installation of the Microsoft-owned Skype.

That said, Facebook was appeared to be on the hunt for at least one software developer to create Windows and Mac applications which suggests a bespoke Facebook application.
